Welcome to Burmis ...

So far, we found very little information about Burmis. The little that we've found leads us believe that the community is historic.<1>

While we don't have a date for the founding of Burmis, you might get a feel for it by knowing that the earliest mention that we've found (so far) was on a map dated 1951.

Time Zone: The area where Burmis was located is in the Mountain Time Zone (MST/MDT) and observes daylight saving time. The time zone in French: MST- Heure Normale des Rocheuses (HNR).

Note: If you leave Burmis and travel west, you will leave Mountain Time and cross into the Pacific Time Zone (PST/PDT).

The earliest source we've referenced which mentioned Burmis was on a map titled Road Map for Montana & Southern Alberta (from Shell Oil, 1951).

We also found Burmis on a map titled Shell Oil Map of Alberta (1956).

<1>	We use the term 'Historic' broadly and it generally means that the community no longer exists. However, it can also mean that the community might still exist, but was significantly larger or had a more 'official' existence in the past than it does now. Unfortunately our sources of data have proven to be unreliable. If you can provide us with more specific information about Burmis, please let us know so that we can improve our accuracy.
<2>	When there's a risk of an area code running out of phone numbers, an 'Overlay Area Code' is created that has the same geographic boundaries as the existing area code. In this case, the 403 code has been Overlayed with one of the following codes: 368, 587 or 825. New phone numbers in the Burmis area will be assigned with one of these codes: 403, 368, 587 or 825.
