At the time of the 2010 Census, Marietta had a population of 56,579 people (or 8.22% of the total population of Cobb County). This makes Marietta the county's most populous community.

The population of Marietta represents 0.58% of the total population of Georgia (which has 9,687,653 people), making it the state's 11th most populous community.
