Taken from the 2019 Census Estimates, Atlanta had an population of 507,301 people. This is an increase of 20.79% since the 2010 Census (or an increase of 21.81% since the 2000 Census).

At the time of the 2010 Census, Atlanta had a population of 420,003 people (which is 45.62% of the total population of Fulton County). This makes Atlanta the county's most populous community.

The population of Atlanta represents 4.34% of the population of Georgia (which has 9,687,653 people), making it the state's most populous community.

With a 2010 count of 420,003 people, the population of Atlanta has remained roughly the same as the 2000 Census (with a count of 416,474 people).
