While the community is gone, the present day location for Mercur is 6,660 feet [2,030 m] above sea level.<3> In other words, the altitude of Mercur is about 1¼ mile [or ~2 km] above sea level.

From our notes, the earliest published mention we've found for Mercur was on a map (with an unknown title) dated 1900.

We also found Mercur on a map titled Map of the Lincoln Highway (1924).
