Wilkins would have been located within present day Elko County<2>.

While we don't have a date for the founding of Wilkins, you might consider that their post office opened in 1948.

While the community is gone, the present day location for Wilkins is 5,680 feet [1,731 m] above sea level.<3> In other words, the elevation of Wilkins is about 1 mile [or ~1¾ km] above sea level.

Time Zone: The area where Wilkins was located is in the Pacific Time Zone (PST/PDT) and observes daylight saving time

We originally found mention of Wilkins in both the FIPS-55 and the GNIS. For more information, see the FIPS and GNIS Codes sections on our Miscellaneous Page.

From our notes, the earliest published mention we've found (so far) for Wilkins was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<5>

From that list, the Wilkins post office opened in 1948. The Wilkins post office closed in 1963.
