So far, we found very little information about Contact. The little that we've found leads us believe that the community is historic.<1>

Contact would have been located within present day Elko County<2>.

While we don't have a date for the founding of Contact, you might consider that their post office opened in 1897.

While the community is gone, the present day location for Contact is 5,350 feet [1,631 m] above sea level.<3> In other words, the altitude of Contact is 1 mile [or ~1¾ km] above sea level.

Time Zone: The area where Contact was located is in the Pacific Time Zone (PST/PDT) and observes daylight saving time

Adding Contact to Our Gazetteer ...

We originally found mention of Contact in both the FIPS-55 and the GNIS. For more information, see the FIPS and GNIS Codes sections on our Miscellaneous Page.

From our notes, the earliest published mention we've found (so far) for Contact was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<5>

From that list, the Contact post office opened in 1897. The Contact post office closed in 1962.
