So far, we found very little information about Delphos. The little that we've found leads us believe that the community is historic.<1>

Delphos would have been located within present day Roosevelt County<2>.

While we don't have a date for the founding of Delphos, you might consider that their post office opened  in 1905.

While the community is gone, the present day location for Delphos is 4,260 feet [1,298 m] above sea level.<3> In other words, the altitude of Delphos is about ¾ mile [or ~1¼ km] above sea level.

Time Zone: The area where Delphos was located is in the Mountain Time Zone (MST/MDT) and observes daylight saving time

Note: If you travel east from Delphos (for example, toward Muleshoe (TX)), you will leave Mountain Time and cross into the Central Time Zone (CST/CDT).

We originally found mention of Delphos in both the FIPS-55 and the GNIS. For more information, see the FIPS and GNIS Codes sections on our Miscellaneous Page.

From our notes, the earliest published mention we've found for Delphos was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<6>

From that list, the Delphos post office opened in 1905.

We also found Delphos on a map titled Rand McNally Map of New Mexico (1925).
