Roosevelt County was founded in 1903. Roosevelt was created by taking area from Chaves and Guadalupe Counties.
From the Census Estimates for 2019, <1> Roosevelt had a population of 18,501 people. This is a decrease of 6.78% since the last Census (which gave a population of 19,846 people in 2010).
At the time of the 2010 Census, Roosevelt represented 0.96% of the total population of New Mexico.
