The location of Norton has been provided by the Geographic Names Information System (ie- the GNIS).<3> While we don't have a date for the founding of Norton, you might get a feel for it by knowing that during our research the earliest mention that we found (so far) was on a map dated 1911. While the community is gone, the present day location for Norton is 800 feet [244 m] above sea level.<4>. Time Zone: The area where Norton was located is in the Eastern Time Zone (EST/EDT) and observes daylight saving time Note: If you travel west from Norton (for example, toward Ranburne (AL)), you will leave Eastern Time and cross into the Central Time Zone (CST/CDT).
