Welcome to Shem ...So far, we found very little information about Shem. The little that we've found leads us believe that the community is historic.<1> We've added Shem to our Gazetteer with the hope that we can develop more information. We aren't confident of the location of Shem, so consider the above location as an estimate.<3> While we don't have a date for the founding of Shem, you might consider that their post office opened in 1903. While the community is gone, the present day location for Shem is 3,240 feet [988 m] above sea level.<4> In other words, the elevation of Shem is about ½ mile above sea level. Time Zone: The area where Shem was located is in the Mountain Time Zone (MST/MDT) and observes daylight saving time Note: If you leave Shem and travel west, you will leave Mountain Time and cross into the Pacific Time Zone (PST/PDT).
