Welcome to Hite ...So far, we found very little information about Hite. The little that we've found leads us believe that the community is historic.<1> We've added Hite to our Gazetteer with the hope that we can develop more information. If you can help us with Hite, please Contact Us. Hite would have been located within present day Garfield County<2>. While we don't have a date for the founding of Hite, you might consider that their post office opened in 1889. The community was inundated by Lake Powell. While the community is gone, the present day location for Hite is 3,700 feet [1,128 m] above sea level.<3> In other words, the elevation of Hite is about ¾ mile [or ~1¼ km] above sea level.
