At the time of the 2010 Census, Tira had a population of 297 people. This makes Tira the county's 4th most populous community.

With a 2010 count of 297 people, the population of Tira increased 19.76% from the 2000 Census (with a count of 248 people).

From our notes, the earliest published mention we've found for Tira was on a map titled Map of Texas (from Rand McNally, 1911).

We also found Tira in the book titled .<7> From that list, the Tira post office opened in 1898.
