Welcome to Lyra ...So far, we found very little information about Lyra. The little that we've found leads us believe that the community is historic.<1> We've added Lyra to our Gazetteer with the hope that we can develop more information. If you can help us with Lyra, please Contact Us. Lyra was located in the Texas Panhandle. Lyra would have been located within present day Palo Pinto County<2>. The location of Lyra has been provided by the Geographic Names Information System (ie- the GNIS).<3> While we don't have a date for the founding of Lyra, you might consider that their post office opened in 1900. While the community is gone, the present day location for Lyra is 960 feet [293 m] above sea level.<4>.
