Taken from the 2019 Census Estimates, Cranston had an population of 81,258 people. This is an increase of 1.08% since the 2010 Census (or an increase of 2.51% since the 2000 Census).

At the time of the 2010 Census, Cranston had a population of 80,387 people (which is 12.83% of the total population of Providence County). This makes Cranston the county's 2nd most populous community.

The population of Cranston represents 7.64% of the population of Rhode Island (which has 1,052,567 people), making it the state's 3rd most populous community.

With a 2010 count of 80,387 people, the population of Cranston increased 1.41% from the 2000 Census (with a count of 79,269 people).
