At the time of the 2010 Census, Wilmington had a population of 12,520 people (or 29.78% of the total population of Clinton County). This makes Wilmington the county's most populous community.

The population of Wilmington represents 0.11% of the total population of Ohio (which has 11,536,504 people), making it the state's 141st most populous community.

With a 2010 count of 12,520 people, the population of Wilmington increased 5.02% from the 2000 Census (with a count of 11,921 people).

From our notes, the earliest published mention we've found for Wilmington was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<8>

From that list, the Wilmington post office opened in 1813.
