Clinton County was founded March 1, 1810. Clinton was created by taking area from Highland and Warren Counties.

From the Census Estimates for 2019, <1> Clinton had a population of 42,002 people. This is a decrease of 0.09% since the last Census (which gave a population of 42,040 people in 2010).

At the time of the 2010 Census, Clinton represented 0.36% of the total population of Ohio.
