Perry County was founded March 1, 1818. Perry was created by taking area from Washington, Fairfield and Muskingum Counties.

From the Census Estimates for 2019, <1> Perry had a population of 36,134 people. This is an increase of 0.27% since the last Census (which gave a population of 36,037 people in 2010).

At the time of the 2010 Census, Perry represented 0.31% of the total population of Ohio.
