Brown County was founded March 1, 1818. Brown was created by taking area from Adams and Clermont Counties.

From the Census Estimates for 2019, <1> Brown had a population of 43,473 people. This is a decrease of 3.06% since the last Census (which gave a population of 44,846 people in 2010).

At the time of the 2010 Census, Brown represented 0.39% of the total population of Ohio.
