Delano would have been located within present day Elko County<2>.

Delano was founded in 1890.

Several communities named Delano share the same reason for their choice of Delano. We're speculating that it might apply here: Named for Columbus Delano; Secretary of the Interior under President Grant.

While the community is gone, the present day location for Delano is 6,390 feet [1,948 m] above sea level.<3> In other words, the altitude of Delano is about 1¼ mile [or ~2 km] above sea level.
