Aurum was founded in 1871.

While the community is gone, the present day location for Aurum is 7,150 feet [2,179 m] above sea level.<3> In other words, the elevation of Aurum is about 1¼ mile [or ~2¼ km] above sea level.

We originally found mention of Aurum in the GNIS. For more information, see the Referenced GNIS Codes section on our Miscellaneous Page.

From our notes, the earliest published mention we've found (so far) for Aurum was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<4>

From that list, the Aurum post office opened in 1881. The Aurum post office closed in 1938.
