While we don't have a date for the founding of Newton, you might consider that their post office opened in 1883. When the people of Newton referred to themselves (known as a demonym), they are believed to have used Newtonian<3> While the community is gone, the present day location for Newton is 6,250 feet [1,905 m] above sea level.<4> In other words, the elevation of Newton is about 1¼ mile [or ~2 km] above sea level.
