So far, we found very little information about Lingo. The little that we've found leads us believe that the community is historic.<1>

Lingo was located in southeast New Mexico.

Lingo would have been located within present day Roosevelt County<2>.

Lingo was established in 1918.

While the community is gone, the present day location for Lingo is 3,980 feet [1,213 m] above sea level.<3> In other words, the altitude of Lingo is ¾ mile [or ~1¼ km] above sea level.

Time Zone: The area where Lingo was located is in the Mountain Time Zone (MST/MDT) and observes daylight saving time

Note: If you travel east from Lingo (for example, toward Morton (TX)), you will soon leave Mountain Time and cross into the Central Time Zone (CST/CDT).

We originally found mention of Lingo in both the FIPS-55 and the GNIS. For more information, see the FIPS and GNIS Codes sections on our Miscellaneous Page.

From our notes, the earliest published mention we've found for Lingo was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<6>

We also found Lingo on a map titled Rand McNally Map of New Mexico (1951).
