At the time of the 2010 Census, Whitsett had a population of 590 people. This makes Whitsett the county's 8th most populous community.

With a 2010 count of 590 people, the population of Whitsett decreased 13.99% from the 2000 Census (which had a count of 686 people).

From our notes, the earliest published mention we've found for Whitsett was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<6>

From that list, the Whitsett post office opened in 1895.

We also found Whitsett on a map titled Rand McNally Map of North Carolina (1911).
