The population of Midland represents 0.03% of the total population of North Carolina (which has 9,535,483 people), making it the state's 199th most populous community.

With a 2010 count of 3,073 people, the population of Midland increased 20.79% from the 2000 Census (which had a count of 2,544 people).

From our notes, the earliest published mention we've found for Midland was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<9>

X2X - From that list, the Midland post office opened in 1914.

We also found Midland in the book titled SPV's Comprehensive Railroad Atlas of North America - Appalachia & Piedmont.
