Taken from the 2019 Census Estimates, Sardis had an population of 1,553 people. This is a decrease of 8.81% since the 2010 Census (or a decrease of 23.8% since the 2000 Census).

At the time of the 2010 Census, Sardis had a population of 1,703 people. This makes Sardis the county's 2nd most populous community.

The population of Sardis represents 0.06% of the population of Mississippi (which has 2,967,297 people), making it the state's 123rd most populous community.

With a 2010 count of 1,703 people, the population of Sardis decreased 16.44% from the 2000 Census (with a count of 2,038 people).

From our notes, the earliest published mention we've found for Sardis was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<6>

From that list, the Sardis post office opened in 1852.

We also found Sardis in the book titled List of Post Offices in the United States (1870).
