The location of Brooklyn has been provided by the Geographic Names Information System (ie- the GNIS).<3> While we don't have a date for the founding of Brooklyn, you might consider that their post office opened in 1836. When the people of Brooklyn referred to themselves (known as a demonym), they are believed to have used Brooklynite<4> While the community is gone, the present day location for Brooklyn is 140 feet [43 m] above sea level.<5>. Time Zone: The area where Brooklyn was located is in the Central Time Zone (CST/CDT) and observes daylight saving time Brooklyn would have been located in the (662) area code.
