We aren't confident of the location of Selkirk, so consider the above location as an estimate.<3> While we don't have a date for the founding of Selkirk, you might consider that their post office opened in 1887. While the community is gone, the present day location for Selkirk is 3,440 feet [1,049 m] above sea level.<4> In other words, the altitude of Selkirk is about ¾ mile [or ~1 km] above sea level. Time Zone: The area where Selkirk was located is in the Central Time Zone (CST/CDT) and observes daylight saving time Note: If you travel west from Selkirk (for example, toward Tribune), you will soon leave Central Time and cross into the Mountain Time Zone (MST/MDT). The location where Selkirk once stood is in the (620) area code. The community of Selkirk has also been called Selkirk Station.
