The origin (or the toponymy) of Kanco: The name Kanco is a portmanteau<3> and it reflects the fact that the community lies just to the east of the Kansas and Colorado border. While the community is gone, the present day location for Kanco is 3,890 feet [1,186 m] above sea level.<4> In other words, the elevation of Kanco is about ¾ mile [or ~1¼ km] above sea level.
