While we don't have a date for the founding of Riley, you might get a feel for it by knowing that during our research the earliest mention that we found (so far) was in a book dated 1895.

The origin (or the toponymy) of Riley: Named for Bennet C. Riley (1787-1853), a General during the Mexican-American War.

From the  Census Estimates for 2019, Riley has a population of 952 people<2> (see below for details).

Taken from the 2019 Census Estimates, Riley had an population of 952 people. This is an increase of 1.38% since the 2010 Census (or an increase of 7.45% since the 2000 Census).

At the time of the 2010 Census, Riley had a population of 939 people. This makes Riley the county's 3rd most populous community.

The population of Riley represents 0.03% of the total population of Kansas (which has 2,853,118 people), making it the state's 204th most populous community.

With a 2010 count of 939 people, the population of Riley increased 5.98% from the 2000 Census (with a count of 886 people).
