Riley County is one of the original counties of Kansas and was founded August 25, 1855.

From the Census Estimates for 2019, <1> Riley had a population of 72,762 people. This is an increase of 2.32% since the last Census (which gave a population of 71,115 people in 2010).

At the time of the 2010 Census, Riley represented 2.49% of the total population of Kansas.
