While we don't have a date for the founding of Dunlap, you might consider that their post office opened  in 1874.

The origin (or the toponymy) of Dunlap: Named for Joseph Dunlap.

Taken from the 2019 Census Estimates, Dunlap had an population of 28 people. This is a decrease of 6.67% since the 2010 Census (or a decrease of 65.43% since the 2000 Census).

At the time of the 2010 Census, Dunlap had a population of 30 people. This makes Dunlap the county's 6th most populous community.

With a 2010 count of 30 people, the population of Dunlap decreased 62.96% from the 2000 Census (which had a count of 81 people).

From our notes, the earliest published mention we've found for Dunlap was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<6>

From that list, the Dunlap post office opened in 1874.

We also found Dunlap in the book titled Business Atlas and Shippers' Guide (1895).
