Welcome to Mirage ...

So far, we found very little information about Mirage. The little that we've found leads us believe that the community is historic.<1>

Mirage would have been located within present day Saguache County<2>.

While we don't have a date for the founding of Mirage, you might consider that their post office opened in 1895.

While the community is gone, the present day location for Mirage is 7,660 feet [2,335 m] above sea level.<3> In other words, the elevation of Mirage is about 1½ mile [or ~2¼ km] above sea level.

Adding Mirage to Our Gazetteer ...

We originally found mention of Mirage in both the FIPS-55 and the GNIS. For more information, see the FIPS and GNIS Codes sections on our Miscellaneous Page.

From our notes, the earliest published mention we've found (so far) for Mirage was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<5>

From that list, the Mirage post office opened in 1895. The Mirage post office closed in 1927.
