At the time of the 2010 Census, Redwood City had a population of 76,815 people (or 10.67% of the total population of San Mateo County). This makes Redwood City the county's 3rd most populous community.

The population of Redwood City represents 0.21% of the population of California (which has 37,253,956 people), making it the state's 101st most populous community.

With a 2010 count of 76,815 people, the population of Redwood City increased 1.87% from the 2000 Census (which had a count of 75,402 people).

From our notes, the earliest published mention we've found for Redwood City was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<6>

From that list, the Redwood City post office opened in 1856.
