From our notes, the earliest published mention we've found for Encampment was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<7>

From that list, the Encampment post office opened in 1897.

We also found Encampment mentioned on a train schedule titled Union Pacific Railroad Time Tables (September 1924).
