While we don't have a date for the founding of Pearl, you might consider that their post office opened in 1889. From Place Names in Colorado,<3> the origin of Pearl is described as "Named in honor of Pearl Burnett, daughter of Benjamin Franklin Burnett." While the community is gone, the present day location for Pearl is 8,400 feet [2,560 m] above sea level.<4> In other words, the elevation of Pearl is about 1½ mile [or ~2½ km] above sea level.
