Taken from the 2019 Census Estimates, Terrell had an population of 18,995 people. This is an increase of 20.1% since the 2010 Census (or an increase of 39.61% since the 2000 Census).

At the time of the 2010 Census, Terrell had a population of 15,816 people (which is 15.23% of the total population of Kaufman County). This makes Terrell the county's most populous community.

The population of Terrell represents 0.06% of the total population of Texas (which has 25,145,561 people), making it the state's 150th most populous community.

With a 2010 count of 15,816 people, the population of Terrell increased 16.24% from the 2000 Census (which had a count of 13,606 people).
