Welcome to Lobo ...

So far, we found very little information about Lobo. The little that we've found leads us believe that the community is historic.<1>

Lobo was located in Big Bend Country (West Texas).

Lobo would have been located within present day Culberson County<2>.

While we don't have a date for the founding of Lobo, you might consider that their post office opened in 1907.

While the community is gone, the present day location for Lobo is 4,030 feet [1,228 m] above sea level.<3> In other words, the altitude of Lobo is about ¾ mile [or ~1¼ km] above sea level.

Time Zone: The area where Lobo was located is in the Central Time Zone (CST/CDT) and observes daylight saving time

We originally found mention of Lobo in both the FIPS-55 and the GNIS. For more information, see the FIPS and GNIS Codes sections on our Miscellaneous Page.

From our notes, the earliest published mention we've found (so far) for Lobo was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<5>

From that list, the Lobo post office opened in 1907. The Lobo post office closed in 1942.
