From our notes, the earliest published mention we've found for Iatan was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<5>
From that list, the Iatan post office opened in 1890.
We also found Iatan mentioned on a train schedule titled The Texas & Pacific Railroad Employees' Time Table #49 (May 1939).
