Holt was located in Hill Country.

Holt would have been located within present day San Saba County<2>.

While we don't have a date for the founding of Holt, you might consider that their post office opened in 1900.

While the community is gone, the present day location for Holt is 1,450 feet [442 m] above sea level.<3>.

Using our Gazetteer, we found that there are two Texas communities named Holt: This one is located in San Saba County and the other is located in Hutchinson County.

Adding Holt to Our Gazetteer ...

We originally found mention of Holt in both the FIPS-55 and the GNIS. For more information, see the FIPS and GNIS Codes sections on our Miscellaneous Page.

From our notes, the earliest published mention we've found (so far) for Holt was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<5>

From that list, the Holt post office opened in 1900. The Holt post office closed in 1918.
