We have great-grandparents who lived in a small city in the northwest corner of their home county. During their lives, most doctors were in the next county to the west. Almost all of the nearby churches and cemeteries were in the county to the north.

A straight line distance ignores things like rivers, canyons, lakes, et cetera - it's truly a line drawn from Point A (ie- Friona) to Point B.Our distance measurements begin at a specific point in Friona. The point we use is located at these GPS coordinates - Latitude: 34.6394, Longitude: -102.7231       In this case, the coordinates for Friona have been provided by the Geographic Names Information System (GNIS).
