Welcome to Regret ...

So far, we found very little information about Regret. The little that we've found leads us believe that the community is historic.<1>

Regret would have been located within present day McMinn County<2>.


The location of Regret has been provided by the Geographic Names Information System (ie- the GNIS).<3>


While we don't have a date for the founding of Regret, you might consider that their post office opened  in 1881.

While the community is gone, the present day location for Regret is 850 feet [259 m] above sea level.<4>.

Time Zone: The area where Regret was located is in the Eastern Time Zone (EST/EDT) and observes daylight saving time

Note: If you travel west from Regret (for example, toward Pikeville), you will leave Eastern Time and cross into the Central Time Zone (CST/CDT).

Adding Regret to Our Gazetteer ...

We originally found mention of Regret in the GNIS. For more information, see the Referenced GNIS Codes section on our Miscellaneous Page.

From our notes, the earliest published mention we've found for Regret was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<6>

From that list, the Regret post office opened in 1881.

We also found Regret on a map titled Rand McNally Map of Tennessee (1888).
