Marshall County was founded in 1836. Marshall was created by taking area from Giles, Bedford, Lincoln and Maury Counties.

From the Census Estimates for 2019, <1> Marshall had a population of 34,507 people. This is an increase of 12.71% since the last Census (which gave a population of 30,617 people in 2010).

At the time of the 2010 Census, Marshall represented 0.48% of the total population of Tennessee.
