From our notes, the earliest published mention we've found for Algood was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<6>

From that list, the Algood post office opened in 1892.

We also found Algood on a map titled Shell Oil Road Map for Tennessee (1956).
