Taken from the 2019 Census Estimates, Piedmont had an population of 903 people. This is an increase of 306.76% since the 2010 Census (or an increase of 437.5% since the 2000 Census).

At the time of the 2010 Census, Piedmont had a population of 222 people. This makes Piedmont the county's 7th most populous community.

The population of Piedmont represents 0.03% of the population of South Dakota (which has 814,180 people), making it the state's 234th most populous community.

With a 2010 count of 222 people, the population of Piedmont increased 32.14% from the 2000 Census (which had a count of 168 people).
