Sheridan would have been located within present day Pennington County<2>.

While we don't have a date for the founding of Sheridan, you might consider that their post office opened in 1877.

From the 2010 Census (the most recent Census number we have), Sheridan had a population of 433 people.<3> (see below for details).

While the community is gone, the present day location for Sheridan is 4,620 feet [1,408 m] above sea level.<4> In other words, the elevation of Sheridan is about ¾ mile [or ~1½ km] above sea level.

We originally found mention of Sheridan in the GNIS. For more information, see the Referenced GNIS Codes section on our Miscellaneous Page.

From our notes, the earliest published mention we've found (so far) for Sheridan was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<6>

From that list, the Sheridan post office opened in 1877. The Sheridan post office closed in 1913.
