While we don't have a date for the founding of Port Matilda, you might get a feel for it by knowing that during our research the earliest mention that we found (so far) was in a book dated 1895.

From the  Census Estimates for 2019, Port Matilda has a population of 588 people<3> (see below for details).

Port Matilda is 1,050 feet [320 m] above sea level.<4>.

Taken from the 2019 Census Estimates, Port Matilda had an population of 588 people. This is a decrease of 2.97% since the 2010 Census (or a decrease of 7.84% since the 2000 Census).

At the time of the 2010 Census, Port Matilda had a population of 606 people. This makes Port Matilda the county's 9th most populous community.

With a 2010 count of 606 people, the population of Port Matilda decreased 5.02% from the 2000 Census (with a count of 638 people).
