At the time of the 2010 Census, Coaldale had a population of 2,281 people. This makes Coaldale the county's 12th most populous community.

The population of Coaldale represents 0.02% of the population of Pennsylvania (which has 12,702,379 people), making it the state's 397th most populous community.

With a 2010 count of 2,281 people, the population of Coaldale has remained roughly the same as the 2000 Census (which had a count of 2,295 people).

From our notes, the earliest published mention we've found for Coaldale was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<6>

From that list, the Coaldale post office opened in 1872.

We also found Coaldale in the book titled Business Atlas and Shippers' Guide (1895).
