Welcome to Siuslaw ...

So far, we found very little information about Siuslaw. The little that we've found leads us believe that the community is historic.<1>

Siuslaw would have been located within present day Lane County<2>.


The location of Siuslaw has been provided by the Geographic Names Information System (ie- the GNIS).<3>


The pronunciation of Siuslaw: sigh-YEW-slaw<4>

While we don't have a date for the founding of Siuslaw, you might consider that their post office opened  in 1852.

While the community is gone, the present day location for Siuslaw is 140 feet [43 m] above sea level.<5>.

Time Zone: The area where Siuslaw was located is in the Pacific Time Zone (PST/PDT) and observes daylight saving time

Adding Siuslaw to Our Gazetteer ...

We originally found mention of Siuslaw in both the FIPS-55 and the GNIS. For more information, see the FIPS and GNIS Codes sections on our Miscellaneous Page.

From our notes, the earliest published mention we've found for Siuslaw was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<8>

From that list, the Siuslaw post office opened in 1852.

We also found Siuslaw in the book titled List of Post Offices in the United States (1870).
