From our notes, the earliest published mention we've found for Mikkalo was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<6>
From that list, the Mikkalo post office opened in 1907.
We also found Mikkalo mentioned on a train schedule titled Union Pacific Railroad Time Tables (September 1924).
