While we don't have a date for the founding of Alder, you might consider that their post office opened in 1878. While the community is gone, the present day location for Alder is 3,880 feet [1,183 m] above sea level.<3> In other words, the elevation of Alder is about ¾ mile [or ~1¼ km] above sea level.
